RCRBD has adopted the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code. Detail 1/S2 provides 2" EPS Foam on the walls and roof. While R-10 continuous insulation (ci) appears adequate for the below grade walls but walls that are above grade require R-15.2ci, and insulation entirely above roof deck requires R-35 in order to comply with Table C402.1.3. Please advise if another method or exception is used such as the semiheated provisions found in ASHRAE 90.1-2016 and include R-value per inch of material or desired R-value on plans.

Thin veneer (adhered masonry veneer) shall comply with the applicable requirements in IBC Section 1405.10.1 and Sections 6.1 and 6.3 of TMS 402/ACI 530/ASCE 5. RCRBD finds these requirements to be similar to cement plaster (stucco) applied to exterior walls and shall conform to similar requirements specified in Chapter 25. Provide details for locations of a continuous weep screed at the bottom of cultured stone (similar to stucco walls) to permit the moisture to escape to the exterior of the building and show dimension to grade (4-inches to grade and 2-inches to concrete surface). Provide specification of approved backing as applicable to veneer used and also insulation applied to the exterior of basement walls where a rigid, opaque and weather-resistant protective covering to prevent the degradation of the insulation’s thermal performance is required.
